The Skyline Hawks jumped out to a 7-0 advantage on the Warren County Wildcats but could not hold on in the pouring rain as they lost by a final score of 14-7.
The Hawks were able to force a punt from the Wildcats on their first possession. Then on first and 10 from near midfield, Caleb Reedy rushed in from 51 yards out to give Skyline the early lead with 5:52 left in the first quarter.
The WIldcats pushed deep into Hawks territory on their next drive, but Skyline forced a turnover on downs stopping Ronnie Dodson on a 4th and 5 run.
Skyline could not generate offense on the ensuing possession, and punted it back to Warren County. On the first play from scrimmage, Bryce Post ran it 42 yards for a touchdown, tying the game at 7-7 with 10:09 left in the 2nd quarter.
Not much offense was generated by either team in the sloppy conditions until the 9:13 mark of the 3rd quarter, when the Wildcats started a drive on the Skyline 17 yard line after a nice return. Four plays later, Dodson had a 4 yard rushing touchdown to put Warren County up for good at 14:-7.
Skyline had one good scoring chance the rest of the game, getting to the Wildcat 11 yard line before Warren County regained possession by sacking and forcing a fumble from Blake Appleton.
The Hawks finish the season with a 2-8 record.
